With mounting environmental concerns, ports around the world are starting to forbid ships to run their engines when moored. To solve this problem Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) has been designed. It includes ship-based and shore-based power supply systems which enable a ship to dock connect to the system and switch off its engines.
